Blanket
North Drinkware is a design project started in Portland, Oregon by three friends who love outdoor activities.
Following the hand-blown glasses that made their existence known, the Blanket series was created in collaboration with Pendleton, a traditional Oregon brand, in order to expand the project to further design projects.
The blankets are made from the highest quality wool at the Pendleton Woolen Mills factory in Pendleton, Oregon, and are processed, dyed, and finished at Pendleton. Using an ancient process called pick-and-pick, two colors of yarn are blended on a Jacquard loom to produce the color of the blanket.
The gray scale woven into the blanket represents the geological features of the mountains. Lighter shades indicate glaciers and snowfield areas, while darker shades indicate various types of volcanic layers. Detailed topographic lines of the mountain are woven into the blanket at every 350 feet of altitude and are also detailed on the packaging sleeve.
The Mt. Hood Blanket is accurately and faithfully drawn from topographic data of Mt. Hood (3429m), the highest peak in Oregon.
The Mt. Hood Blanket is made of thick virgin wool, so you can handle it roughly outdoors with no problem at all. You can also use it as a rug indoors.
A deep love for the mountains, traditional techniques, and premium design. They are proud to be 100% Made in the USA in cooperation with their local partners.
